Whether you’re an Austin resident or you just want to park like one, with these tips and tricks you’ll be able to find a free parking spot or two near your destination (even free parking downtown) in no time.
To find those free street parking spots, here is what you need:

Parking Rules in Austin:
Free parking on certain streets every Sunday
On-street parking meters in the area near Barton Springs Road and South Lamar, including Toomey Road, Lee Barton Drive and others, are only enforced Monday-Saturday from 8 AM – Midnight. Sundays are free!
Free parking on IH-35 to Chicon from East 4th Street to East 7th Street
IH-35 to Chicon from East 4th Street to East 7th Street is enforced Tuesday through Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight, so that means free parking Sunday, Monday and during the day the rest of the week. There are some nearby exceptions, so be sure to check the map.
